Amy Bayes to make top literature choices
Amy Bayes of Peabody has been chosen by South Central Kansas Library System Consultant Julie Tomlianovitch to help select the best in children's literature for the year 2002.
Choices will include the best in picture books, junior fiction, young adult fiction, and all non-fiction for children. Bayes' choices will be included in a list of books that Bayes and Tomlianovitch will present at the Kansas Libraries Tri-state Conference to be held in April at Salina.
At the conference, Bayes also will be doing an instructional session for children's librarians about programming for toddlers and infants.
Bayes was just notified that she will be the new Kansas Library Association president of Children and School Services in 2004. As one of her duties, she will plan the children's section of the 2004 Tri-state Conference.
Bayes also will be a member of the prestigious William Allen White board in 2005 where she will vote on the William Allen White book nominees.
Bayes is a 1991 graduate of Peabody High School and a 1995 graduate of Bethel College. She is the head of Children's Services at the Newton Public Library. She resides in rural Peabody with her husband and two children.
