Ammeters hold family reunion

The Ammeter family attended the reunion at the Burns community building Sunday. A crowd of 74 people attended. Members of the Sherwin Ammeter family attending were LaVonne Ammeter, Steve and Melody Magette, Bryan and Amanda Kantack, Emily Haxton, Adam Magette, Sally and Myron Ammeter, Chad and Angela Bunger, Carol and Blaine Ammeter, B.J. Ammeter and Jody Wulf, and Stan Ammeter.

Maude Gaines was a Sunday dinner guest of Sally and Jim Abel. The rest of the family came and joined in. Maude attended the awards ceremony Monday evening and graduation exercises Tuesday for her granddaughter, Allison Ganty, at Holton.

Jack and Carolyn Metz of Wichita picked up LaVonne Saturday morning to go to Agency, Mo. They arrived at the home of Rose and George Holm late in the afternoon and were supper guests. LaVonne attended Sunday school and church services where George is the minister. Others attending church services and dinner were Mary Sue Mayfield of Williamsburg, Va., Katie Watts, Matthew Watts, Jack and Carolyn Metz, Bob and Mary Watts, Mrs. Robert Watts, daughter and grandson of Newton, Jim and Kathy Holm and Bailey and Carey of Wichita. The occasion was to celebrate Anna Watts' graduation. In the afternoon all attended Anna's graduation exercises and a reception at the Watts home.

Jack and Carolyn, Mary Sue and LaVonne toured an Iris Farm Sunday evening.

Jack and Carolyn, LaVonne, and Mary Sue headed back to Kansas Monday morning. Mary Sue stayed at LaVonne's for a few extra days.

Sara Sayer visited Tuesday evening at the Ammeter home. Josh Clark was a late evening visitor.

Mary Sue and LaVonne went to El Dorado Wednesday morning for lunch. Carolyn Metz picked up Mary Sue in the afternoon.

Ladies Aid met at LaVonne's Wednesday afternoon. Leona Widler, Dorene Kirkpatrick, Sherry Nightengale, and Maude Gaines attended. Adah and Carol Gilbert were guests.

Michele Montgomery visited LaVonne Wednesday afternoon.

Maude Gaines ate lunch and quilted at Peabody Senior Center Friday. LaVonne went to the center in the afternoon to hear Bennie Holtsclaw sing. Sure did enjoy the program. Wow! Can he sing and entertain.

Maude and LaVonne were in Marion Friday afternoon shopping and attending to business.

Emily Haxton arrived at Grandma LaVonne's Saturday morning to spend the weekend. Emily and LaVonne visited the Ebenezer Cemetery and had lunch at Burns Café. Later in the afternoon they visited Summit Cemetery and Willard Larsen of Wichita. Don Gillet and Josh Clark visited in the afternoon.

Sally and Myron Ammeter of Grand Island and Chad and Angela Bunger of Minden, Neb., arrived at the Ammeter farm Saturday evening to spend the weekend and attend the Ammeter reunion.

Mary Sue Holm was a Sunday visitor then went to Peabody to attend the Holm reunion at the park.

Melody and Steve Magette of Greensburg and Amanda and Bryan Kantack of Colorado Springs, Colo., arrived Sunday evening to spend Memorial Day weekend and to attend the Ammeter reunion. The Kantacks, Adam Magette of Manhattan, and Emily Magette left late in the afternoon.

Dinner guests of Ike and Marie Clark Sunday were Maude Gaines, Norma and Leroy Riggs of Marion, Joyce Barker of Wichita, and Sherry and Marvin Nightengale. Bill and Marie Clark of El Dorado were afternoon visitors.

Eric and Kristin Magette of Salina arrived late Sunday evening at the Ammeter farm and were guests overnight and Memorial Day.

Last Week's News

Todd Ammeter is spending the week with his grandma. Todd spent May 14 with Don and Marge Gfeller.

Dorene Kirkpatrick and LaVonne Ammeter worked in El Dorado three days last week.

LaVonne went to Marion Tuesday to shop and visit Rubena Jost at St. Luke Hospital. Todd Ammeter and LaVonne were supper guests that evening of Don and Marjorie Gfeller. They enjoyed games after supper.

Todd went to Manhattan Thursday to move his belongings for the summer. Josh Clark and Todd went fishing later in the evening. Todd left for Ellinwood Friday afternoon.

Sally and Jim Abel of Perry came to pick up Maude Gaines Friday morning for a few days of visiting. While there Maude attended ball games of Trent Robb, her great-grandson.
