March 26-April 3
I was gone all last week to visit a granddaughter in Minnesota so I'll try to catch up. My birthday was March 21 and I received so many calls. Blaine was here to spend the day and take me to the doctor.
Carolyn Holm of Wichita and Kathryn Ireland of Newton, my sister-in-law, came to spend Thursday and celebrate my birthday. We ate lunch in Burns at Mom's Café and watched a movie. It was a real great day.
Maude Gaines and LaVonne went to Peabody late Thursday afternoon.
I went to Legacy Park Friday afternoon to deliver birthday cake and visited Aunt Nonie Widler, Jessie Bayes, and Emma Shaw.
Stan Ammeter was a Friday supper guest and later in the evening Myron and Sally Ammeter of Grand Island, Neb., arrived at the Ammeter farm to spend the night.
Early Saturday morning, Sally, Myron, and LaVonne picked up Opal Craney, Sally's mom, and headed for Maple Grove, Minn., to visit Amy and Doug Drake and the new great-grandchild, Daniel. It was a long trip.
We ate lunch on the way and arrived at the Drakes about 6:30 p.m. to spend the week. Oh what a fun week! He's so precious. Lots of dark hair and he smiles and coos. We had so much fun holding him and playing with him. He's almost three months old.
We came home Friday, drove all the way. We ate lunch in Des Moines, Iowa, and arrived at the Ammeter farm about 6:30. Myron and Sally took Opal home and then drove all the way to Grand Island.
Maudie and I went to Peabody Saturday afternoon to get groceries and visited Aunt Nonie Widler and Jessie Bayes at Legacy Park. Got to visit with Martha Shinn and Clarence and Edna May Bayes of Wichita. They were visiting Jessie.
Sunday we had church at Summit. Pastor David had an extra good message.
Gene Obee picked LaVonne up after church and we went to Kathryn and Bob Ireland's for dinner. Other guests were Susan and Scott and Shirley Hess of Wichita.
Don Gillet visited LaVonne Sunday evening.
Maude Gaines was a dinner guest of Sherry and Marvin Nightengale. Marie Clark also was a dinner guest.
LaVonne and Maude went to Marion Monday to pick up the ballots and do some shopping.
Joyce Kyle picked up LaVonne Tuesday and they went to work the election in Burns at the community center. Mary Glenn also was a poll worker. We had 66 voters. Still a lot didn't vote. LaVonne and Joyce took the ballots to Marion after the polls closed.
Mary Sue Holm of Virginia was waiting for me when I came home Tuesday evening. I was so glad to see her. She was an overnight guest.
