Allegations against Stout remain under investigation
Marion County Sheriff Lee Becker said the investigation is continuing regarding sexual battery complaints filed against Florence Police Chief Merlin Stout.
The complaints were filed by a young woman claiming she was sexually battered by the 60-year-old Stout in an area restaurant.
"Women from other counties are coming forward with information regarding other incidents," said Becker. "The allegations are similar in nature to the charges filed against Mr. Stout in Marion County."
The Marion County Record verified Stout's employment with a supervisor of the human resource office at the Oklahoma City Police Department.
According to the supervisor, Stout was employed with the police department from May 1, 1968 through April 15, 1970.
Stout was suspended indefinitely Feb. 16 by the Florence City Council following his initial arrest Feb. 13. Stout is free on bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. March 3.
