Accidents reported
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Dawn M. Hosmer, 53, Newton, was southbound on K-15 near 140th Road in a 1998 Saturn passenger car at 9 p.m. Nov. 9, when she struck a deer that was standing in the road. Ray D. Regder, no age given on report, Newton, was a passenger. Marion County Sheriff Sergeant Jeff Soyez reported neither the driver or passenger were injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages to the vehicle.
Levi T. Carpenter, 17, 2282 Sunrise, Marion, was eastbound on 110th Road near U.S.-77 in a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass at 8 a.m. Nov. 21, when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a westbound 1988 International truck driven by Adam J. Cope, 14, 2704 110th, Florence. The truck was registered to Doyle Creek, 101 Main, Florence. There were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Undersheriff Randal Brazil.
Scott B. Walter, 48, Louisburg, was westbound on U.S.-56 near Chisholm Trail Road in a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer at 3:55 p.m. Nov. 21, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. Elaine Walter, 43, and Elizabeth A. Walter, 11, were passengers. Undersheriff Brazil reported Scott and Elizabeth Walter were injured and Elaine Walter had possible injuries All were transported by Hillsboro EMS to Hillsboro Community Medical Center.
Laura L. Neufeld, 19, 410 W. Grand, Hillsboro, was eastbound on U.S.-56 near K-15 in a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am at 8:50 p.m. Nov. 21, when a deer came from a south ditch and was struck. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Marion County Sheriff Deputy Duane McCarty.
William M. Rogers, 48, 702 S. Lincoln Street, Hillsboro, was backing to park on Lincoln Street near F Street in a 1976 Toyota pickup at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 23, and struck the rear quarter panel of a 2004 Buick LeSabre owned by Victor R. Philpott, Haviland. Jerrod P. Rogers, 16, of the same address, was a passenger in the pickup. Hillsboro Police Officer Chad Richards reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.
Jordan D. Voth, 18, Newton, was southbound on Sunflower Road near 90th Road in a 1995 Ford Mustang at 8:19 a.m. Nov. 24, when he lost control on the snow, entered the west ditch, and went through a pasture fence. The driver was not injured and there was more than $1,000 in damages, reported Deputy Philpott. The car was registered to Timothy Voth of the same address.
Michael Wade Klein, 27, Newton, was exiting the parking lot of a business on North Ash Street, Hillsboro, in a 2006 Pontiac Vibe at 9:25 a.m. Nov. 24, when he didn't see the concrete base of a pole and struck it. Becky Klein, 25, 406 S. Lincoln, Hillsboro, was a passenger. Officer Richards reported there was more than $1,000 in damages. No injuries were indicated on the report.
