Accidents reported
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Gerald F. Waner, 61, Warrensburg, Mo., was parked in a west stall of a parking lot in the 600 block of East Main Street, Marion, in a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado pickup at 7:45 p.m. June 26, when he backed from the space, turned too quickly, and struck a post with the left front fender. Karen Waner, 61, of the same address, was a passenger. Marion Police Officer Robert Soyez investigated the accident.
Dalton J. McGrew, 23, Wichita, was westbound on D Street near Oak Street, Hillsboro, in a 2000 Ford pickup at 1:40 p.m. July 1, when he made an abrupt left turn without using a signal. Harold M. Stultz Jr., 44, 636 170th, Hillsboro, also was westbound in a 1999 Dodge SUV and struck the pickup as it turned. Passengers in the Stultz vehicle were Jennifer Stultz, 40, Cameron Stultz, 15, Grady Stultz, 17, Shelbi Stultz, 8, and Keenan Stultz, 10, all of the same address. Hillsboro Assistant Police Chief Jessey Hiebert reported there were no injuries and more than $1,000 in damages.
A hit-and-run accident occurred at 9:40 p.m. July 1, when an unknown vehicle struck the side of a 2006 Ford owned by John W. McCullick, 216 N. Washington, Hillsboro. The incident occurred on Madison Street near First Street, Hillsboro, reported Hillsboro Police Officer Steven Janzen. There was more than $1,000 in damages.
Vera A. Harder, 89, 200 Willow Road, Hillsboro, was eastbound on F Street near Ash Street, Hillsboro, in a 1993 Buick Park Avenue at 12:49 p.m. July 6, when Sandra J. Friesen, 51, 944 230th, Hillsboro, pulled from a parking lot in a 1993 Jeep Wrangler in front of Harder and was struck. Hillsboro Police Officer David Funk reported there were no injuries and less than $1,000 in damages.
