Accidents
The following accidents were reported to Marion County law enforcement agencies:
Larry E. King, 57, 23 Lakeshore Drive, Marion, was westbound on 170th at Timber at 7:40 p.m. June 22. Jenna L. Parli, 17, 2054 Wagonwheel, Marion was southbound on Timber. The left front corner of King's 1998 Ford F-150 struck the left rear corner of Parli's 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. Joshua M. Caldwell, 21, 514 East Santa Fe, Marion, was a passenger in the Parli vehicle which is registered to Nona S. Parli, of the home. Deputy Larry Starkey states there were no injuries.
Rueben Borjas, 37, Gardner, was westbound on U.S.-50 just west of Yarrow at 7:15 p.m. June 24. A turkey entered the roadway from the north ditch striking the windshield of Borjas' 1998 Ford Taurus. Robert Borjas, 18, and Angela Borjas, 39, were passengers in the vehicle. No one was injured, reports Deputy Josh Whitwell.
Kevin Steinborn, 47, 319 South Cedar, Marion was eastbound on 240th at Pawnee at 3:30 a.m. June 26 when a deer entered the roadway. Steinborn, driving a 1997 Dodge pickup, swerved to miss the deer and hit a tree in the north ditch. Deputy Whitwell states Steinborn was not injured.
Amy L. Neufeld, 15, 410 West Grand, Hillsboro, was eastbound on 170th just west of Goldenrod at 9:35 p.m. June 17. Neufeld lost control of the 1988 Toyota Corolla she was driving. She entered the south ditch and struck a culvert. Samantha H. Heinrichs, 15, 1106 Bradford Court, Hillsboro, was a passenger in the vehicle. The vehicle is registered to Laura Neufeld, of the home. Both individuals were taken by private vehicle to Hillsboro Community Medical Center, reports Undersheriff Randal Brazil.
Cynthia Unruh, 53, Springdale, Ark., was southbound on Indigo at 180th at 1:30 a.m. June 19. A deer came out of the east ditch and was struck by Unruh's 1998 Buick Riviera. Marilyn Unruh, 52, 209 North Vine, Peabody, was a passenger. No one was injured, reports Undersheriff Brazil.
Annette Sue Voth, 52, Newton, was southbound on Falcon just north of 80th at 9:40 p.m. June 21. A deer entered the roadway from the east ditch and was struck by Voth's 1997 Honda Accord. Voth was not injured, states Deputy Whitwell.
Don H. Knoll, 70, 1846 Cheyenne Road, Moundridge, was westbound on U.S.-56 just east of K-15 at 9:10 p.m. June 19. A deer entered the roadway from the north ditch and was struck by Knoll's 1996 Cadillac. Patricia Knoll, 62, of the home, was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputy Whitwell reports there were no injuries.
