Accident at city intersection injures Peabody woman
An accident June 19 at Seventh and Locust streets in Peabody sent one woman to the hospital according to Peabody Police Chief Jeff Pohlman.
"It was worked as a no-fault accident," he said, "because it is a non-controlled intersection. There are no signs to indicate that any party should stop or yield."
Lila Richter was transported to a Wichita hospital by helicopter. Debbie Orcutt, driver of the second car, was not taken to a medical facility.
Pohlman said he is unaware of the extent of Richter's injuries.
On June 18 officers shot a rabid raccoon at 207 East 9th Street. Pohlman said the animal was behaving strangely. He cautioned people to be aware of wild animals in their neighborhoods.
Later the same day a burglary was reported about 2 p.m. at 107 West Sixth Street. The victim reported a cell phone was stolen from a car at the residence.
Also on June 18 Ronald and Brandy Jaquis of Peabody were arrested at Peabody Farm Service on a charge of assault and battery. The two individuals began beating a person who was at the service station.
On June 26 a gas meter in the alley behind a residence at 705 N. Sycamore was hit by a vehicle and broken. Gas service personnel were called and the meter was repaired. There were no injuries.
