A celebration of milestones, accomplishments

Fifty-two graduates were recognized Sunday afternoon during the 100th commencement of Hillsboro High School at the school gymnasium.

The class of 2006 had two valedictorians and a salutatorian.

Robert Jost and Clinton Schneider shared the distinction of having the top grade point average in the class. Meredith Kliewer had the second highest.

— President's Award for Educational Excellence: Andrew Bina, Joshua Boese, Daniel Bookless, Macy Fadenrecht, Peter Fast, Timothy Funk, Danielle Hagen, Susanna Janzen, Robert Jost, Jessica Kelly, Greta Kliewer, Meredith Kliewer, Kyle Kroeker, Victor Rogers, Clinton Schneider, Carrie Schroeder, Hannah Shope, and Jennifer Terrell.

— Dale Dennis Excellence in Education Award: Joshua Boese, $100 scholarship from Hillsboro High School Site Council.

— USD #410 Education Association Scholarship: Justin Moore, $300.

— Cargill Community Scholarship: Katelin Unruh, $1,000, National Future Farmers of America Foundation.

— Distinguished State Scholars: Josh Boese, Peter Fast, Suzanna Janzen, Robert Jost, Greta Kliewer, Kyle Kroeker, Victor Rogers, Clinton Schneider, and Carrie Schroeder.

Robert Jost also was named Kansas ACT Scholar with an ACT composite score of 32 out of 36.

— Board of Regents Certificate of Recognition: Joshua Boese, Daniel Bookless, Peter Fast, Susanna Janzen, Robert Jost, Jessica Kelly, Greta Kliewer, Kyle Kroeker, Victor Rogers, Clinton Schneider, Carrie Schroeder, and Laura Skiles.

— Outstanding Math and Science Award: Robert Jost, Kansas State University on behalf of the College of Engineering.

— American Legion Post #366, American Legion Auxiliary, and Sons of the American Legion Scholarships: Ricky Johnson, Tiffany Knaak, and Josh Funk, $250 each.

— Hillsboro Community Medical Center Scholarship: Jessica Kelly, $500.

— Hillsboro Evening Lions Club Scholarships: Jennifer Terrell and Victor Rogers, $500 each.

— Hillsboro Evening Lions Club — Don Harding Scholarship: Meredith Kliewer, $500.

— Paul Rundstrom Memorial Scholarship: Andrew Bina, $250.

— C.M. Sextro Academic Scholarship for Mathematics: Peter Fast, $1,250.

— Citizenship Awards: Laura Lindsay and Justin Moore, $250 scholarships each.

— Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marion Post #6958: Carrie Schroeder, $100 award for first place in essay contest.

— Wiebe Scholarship Awards: Emily Bebermeyer and Clinton Schneider, $3,750 each.
