Round the town: Leroy Schmidt celebrates 50th birthday with parents years ago

Malvin and Darlene Schmidt attended a 50th birthday supper Friday at McPherson for their son, Leroy Schmidt of Haleiwa, Oahu, Hawaii. Also attending were Malvina and Brittani Heinrichs of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Jeremy and Abbey Schmidt and Curtis Balzer of McPherson.
A surprise 50th birthday party for Leroy Schmidt was hosted Saturday by Jerry and Melissa Bruce at the home of Malvin and Darlene Schmidt. Those attending were Jerry and Melissa Bruce and family of Lindsborg, Kelly Bruce of Moundridge, Malvina and Brittani Heinrichs of Broken Arrow, Okla., Jerry Schmidt of Salina, Ima Elwell and Leon Heidebrecht of Inman, Dale and David Winter, Lucretia and Robert Vance, Riahannon Janzen, Tristan Janzen, Jake and Mary Richert, and Malvin and Darlene Schmidt, all of Hillsboro.
Paul and Arlene Pankratz were Saturday dinner guests for a birthday dinner at the home of Elmer and Dorothy Seibel in Newton. Additional guests were Seibels' family, Marty and Leora Schneider of Milford, Neb., Gerald and Loretta Seibel, Jacob, Jessica, and Julie of Kechi. They celebrated the Tuesday birthdays of Paul, Elmer, Dorothy, and Jacob. Elmer's sister, Frances of Emporia was an afternoon visitor.
Paul and Elaine Jantzen attended the Kansas Day celebration Sunday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church at Marion.
Valerie Hampton was a Sunday dinner guest of her mother Lois Sklenar at Tampa.
Ken Pankratz of Durham, Kent and Emily Nichols of Hesston, and Tim and Donna Diener were Sunday dinner guests at the Paul Pankratz home. They celebrated the birthdays of Emily and Paul.
Bernice McDowell and Jerry and Tootsie Schmidt attended the wedding Saturday of Ben Lewis and Jennifer Kessler at the Catholic church at Wichita.
Oliver and Frances Unruh spent the weekend at Fairview, Okla., with Oliver's brother and wife, Lawrence and Helen Unruh. They attended the 50th wedding anniversary Sunday afternoon for Lawrence and Helen at the Nazarene church at Fairview. Oliver's brother, Leslie and wife from Upland, Calif., also were special guests.
Beverly Elliot spent a week with her friend Lisa Foutch at Edmund, Okla. She drove to Fairview Sunday and also attended the Unruhs' 50th wedding anniversary celebration.
