. . .holds reunion in Burns

The 13th Ammeter family reunion was held May 26 at the Burns Community Building. Seventy-four people signed the guest book.

Relatives came from Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Virginia, and many Kansas towns.

Monty Wyss, son of Robert Wyss of Albuquerque, N.M., traveled the farthest. Bill Wyss was the oldest and Alexis Holm and Carly Holm were the youngest family members present.

All of the children of the Sherwin Ammeter family and seven grandchildren were present. All of the children of Carolyn Holm Metz were present and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. All of Kathryn Ireland's children were present and two grandchildren.

Melody Magette asked the blessing after which a delicious meal was served at 1:00.

Carolyn Holm, Kathryn Ireland, and LaVonne Ammeter took charge of the meeting. Each family introduced themselves and their families and told where they lived.

A silent auction was held with Carolyn Holm and Rose Watts in charge. Some very interesting things were brought by the families and everyone had so much fun bidding.

Remembering those who are deceased, reminiscing about old times, lots of picture-taking, and lots of visiting filled the afternoon.

The reunion ended with all joining hands and singing, "Blessed Be The Tie That Binds."

Those attending were LaVonne Ammeter; Myron and Sally Ammeter, Grand Island, Neb.; Chad and Angela Bunger, Minden, Neb.; Melody and Steve Magette, Greensburg; Adam Magette, Manhattan; Bryan and Amanda Kantach, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Emily Haxton, Ellsworth; Stan Ammeter, Blaine and Carol Ammeter, Ellinwood; and Bryan Ammeter and Jody Wulf, Manhattan.

Carolyn Holm Metz' family included Carolyn and Jack and Jim and Kathy Holm, Carly, and Bailey, Wichita; Rebecca, Amber, and Alexis Holm, Great Bend; Rose Watts, Agency, Mo.; Toby and Patricia Foster, Scott, Billy, Jacob, and Kevin, Sand Springs, Okla.; and Mary Sue Holm Mayfield of Williamsburg, Va.

Kathryn Ireland's family included Kathryn and Bob, Newton; Susan Bachus and Shirley Hess, Wichita; Chris and Kerri Meleon, Claude, Texas; Bryan and Rhiannon Hess, Pittsburg; and Woody Hess, El Dorado.

Also present were Bill and Marie Clark, Theo, Jean and Larry Winzer, Sheryl Connell, Jessie and Tristan, Howard and Jean Knaussman, Karla and Troy Duran, El Dorado; Jerry and Denise Henn, Adam, Abbey, and Andrew, Paola; Bob and Eileen Knaussman, Emporia; Richard and Lucille Wyss, Florence; Bill and Martha Wyss, Alan Wyss, Wendell Robinson, and Gene Obee, Burns; Robert and Hazel Wyss, Onaga; Monty Wyss, Albuquerque, N.M.; Gerald and Shirley Abraham, Whitewater, and Lee and Betty Bourrs, Wichita.

None of the Oklahoma people were present. La Vonne had talked to Sue Rackley to get a report on Aunt Raye Mattheyer and Evelyn and Edd Huttenhoff of Tucson, Ariz., had talked to LaVonne on the phone.

LaVonne, Kathryn, Bob, Carolyn, and Jack were real pleased with the day. The next reunion will be held on Memorial Day weekend in 2004.
