Florence Fired Up will be Labor Day theme
Florence Chamber of Commerce met Thursday for a noon luncheon meeting at Carriage Manor with 14 members present.
Following regular reports by the secretary and treasurer, the group heard a Labor Day committee report from chairman Trayce Warner. Warner announced Spring Fling will be April 29 and Tour de Florence will be June 4. Both are fund-raisers for the Labor Day celebration.
Warner said the theme for this year's celebration is "Florence Fired Up." She showed brochures for entering the barbecue cook-off, announced the parade committee had contacted 12 area high school bands, and told chamber members a carnival had been found.
Member Ed Robinson announced construction of the roundabout at the junction of U.S.-50/77 is scheduled to begin this week.
New business again turned to projects the chamber could take on to help promote local businesses. Sara Neal volunteered to chair a committee to get together for brainstorming sessions and to establish projects and goals. Interested members agreed to help.
The next meeting will be at noon April 6 at Carriage Manor.
