39 attend Skinner reunion years ago

Thirty-nine people attended the 57th annual Skinner reunion Aug. 1 at Peabody Senior Center.

Most of those attending were descendants of William and Margaret Skinner, who moved to Peabody in 1896 from Iowa, and James and Amanda Skinner, who moved from Iowa to LaHarpe the same year.

A card was signed for John Grindel of Gladstone, Mo., who is undergoing cancer treatment. Many of those in attendance enjoyed a phone conversation with Darren Nelson of Duluth, Ga., who could not attend the reunion this year.

Memorial contributions were made in memory of Sibyl Hill, Ralph Skinner, and Kenny Weber. Thelma Chambers made the handmade door prizes.

Those attending were Frances Skinner, Dr. Virginia Skinner, and Chris, Jennifer, Mackenzie, Bryant, and Philip Young, all of Peabody.

Donna Nelson and Scott, Michelle, Sophie, and Drew Nelson of Lindsborg, Craig, Kara, and Lanie Nelson of Garden Plain.

Virginia Bigbee, Jean Bigbee Hill, and Jim and Judy Ahrens of Manhattan, Don Skinner of Leawood, Johnnie Kay Morrison of Newton, Ilene Chisholm and Wray Skinner of Wichita.

John and Marsha Cain of Hays, Joy and Joel Carlson of Shawnee, Claude and Thelma Chambers of Neodesha, Glenn Grieve of Liberal, Greg and Cathy Parker of Augusta.

Attending from out-of-state were Becky Weber of Grand Island, Neb., and her granddaughter, Carrie Weber, of North Carolina, Ann Stimac of Phoenix, Ariz., and her granddaughter Ashlynn Everitt of Wichita, and Gordon and Wilburta Muchmore of Raytown, Mo.
