Youth center to upgrade computers

A $750 grant announced a week ago will replace and update computers at Peabody’s youth center, The Hub.

According to center director Isaac Good, students who frequent The Hub often rely on its internet access and computers to work on school assignments, but the computers there have become out of date and no longer function properly.

“The Hub has a longstanding past that is invested in the positive growth of the youth of our community,” Good said. “This investment is in all aspects of their lives, and that includes the realms of school and technology. With this grant, the students will have a greater opportunity to excel in school, with technology, and in the future.”

The grant was part of $100,000 in grants announced Feb. 3 by Peabody Community Foundation.

“The Peabody Community Foundation is happy to commit funds that help to give Peabody teens a safe and healthy environment in which to study and play,” foundation board member Sheryl Simmonds said.
