Young Keazer enjoys 'new' car purchase

To paraphrase a line from the great Mick Jagger, he wants to paint it black.

Marion resident Casey Keazer has always liked old cars, and when he saw a 1971 Chevelle four-door Malibu in January with only 72,300 miles, he decided to make it his.

The car with the 350 small block already is black, but he said he wants to give it a fresh look with a new coat.

Right now, the car he tagged as an antique, is his back-and-forth to work vehicle. However, someday the 2008 Marion High School graduate said there could be more in stock for the car in the future.

“When I get it fixed up I might do something like take it to a car show,” Keazer said.

While some antique car owners let their beauties sit in the garage all day, Keazer drives it while keeping it in good condition.

He has put only 500 miles on the vehicle since purchasing it, and said despite being 38 years old, it is “in pretty good shape.”

“It runs pretty smooth with general maintenance,” Keazer said.

He said it’s possible in the future he could own more antique cars and has his eyes on a Camaro or Corvette.

For now though, especially with winter finally starting to make way for spring, Keazer is content with cruising around in his Chevelle.
