Winners of Peabody's July 4 events

Peabody Fourth Fest committee and Peabody Main Street Association sponsored prizes for parade entries. The prizes were in the form of Peabody Bucks.

Schmidt family in honor of Ethan Schmidt — $100

Best decorated bicycles:

1. Paige Jacobs, Wichita — $50

2. Steve Robbins, Newton — $30

3. Kenny Johnson, Hillsboro — $20

Best car entry:

Rex Rosenburg, Hoisington for his art car, Chewbaru — $100

For the first time, Peabody Farm Service sponsored a car show at Peabody-Burns High School parking lot. Eleven cars were entered. People who came out to see the vintage vehicles voted on their favorites, and owners of the top three received cash and a T-shirt.

Second place:

Carrol McHenry, El Dorado, 1923 Dodge Brothers Business Coupe

Third place:

Janie Hampton, Peabody, 1937 Chevrolet Deluxe named Mavis.

Peabody American Legion Auxiliary sponsored its 16th annual dog show Monday at Santa Fe Park. Winners received dog treats.
