Wiese, Topham earn state track berths

Five Peabody-Burns High School track athletes traveled to Mound City on Friday for regional track. Two of the five earned a spot in state track competition.

Wiebke Wiese broke the school record she set earlier this season in high jump. Her leap of 5 feet, 2 inches earned a fourth-place finish in the event.

Seth Topham placed second in the high jump, crossing the bar at 6-0. Topham also competed in two hurdle races. He placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.99 seconds and ninth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 44.67.

Paige Lewis just missed a trip to state with her fifth-place finish in the 100 hurdles. Her time for the event was 17.56.

Martin Reich ended his 2012 season with two 10th-place finishes. He ran the 400 in 51.71 and jumped 17-1.5 in the long jump.

Lucas Larsen placed 12th in the javelin with a throw of 133-2.
