Wiebe places fifth

The Peabody-Burns High School cross country chalked up some impressive results Thursday at the first meet of the year at Clearwater.

Kendall Wiebe and Aaron Topham both finished in the top-10 of the junior /senior division.

Lauren Pickens had a top-10 finish in the freshman/sophomore division.

The team will compete Thursday at Hesston.

Wiebe ran the two-mile course in 11 minutes, 18 seconds for a fifth place finish. Aaron Topham crossed the line at 11:35 and finished in seventh place.

Josh Klarmann came in 13th and Curtis Frederick was 28th.

Jake Middleton came in 32nd and Seth Methvin was 50th.

Chris Schafer was 57th.

Sheldon Wiebe competed in the freshmen/sophomore boys’ division and finished 12th with a time of 12:26.

Lauren Pickens competed in the freshman/sophomore girls’ division and finished the two-mile course with a time of 14:20.

Amanda Pickens came in 82nd and Heather Brooks was 96th in the standings.

Zach Preheim ran in the eighth grade boys’ competition and placed 19th, with a time of 15:08.
