HOPE IN THE HEARTLAND:   Who will win?

Gracepoint Church, Peabody

Tom Clancy is credited with saying that the difference between fiction and reality is fiction has to make sense. It has to be believable. Not so with reality.

Have you ever read or watched a news story of some horrible crime and said, “I can’t believe someone would do something like that?” The crime was so hideous that you were stunned into denial that the human race could contain such evil people. But it does. The shock to our civilized nature, however, carries a barbed truth that tears at our souls: This fallen planet is under the control of the evil one — Satan.

You see, not every reality has to be seen to be real. There is a whole other reality that is beyond the thin veil that separates what our eyes tell us is “there” and what the Bible tells us is going on an entirely different level.

There is a spiritual battle, and the atrocities we see bleed over into our physical reality are signs of it. The book of Revelation describes this battle in highly symbolic language.

And we know God wins. Ultimately justice will prevail. Are you on God’s side?
