HOPE IN THE HEARTLAND:   When Jesus prayed for you

Gracepoint Church, Peabody

Isn’t it nice to know that someone is praying for you? It might be a parent, friend, or fellow church member that has said, “Hey, I’m praying for you.” Somehow just knowing that brings encouragement. Prayer lists are found in church bulletins, on pieces of paper stuck to the front of refrigerators, or stuffed inside of someone’s Bible.

It’s wonderful to know we’re being prayed for by other people. But what if I told you that before He died on the cross, Jesus prayed for you? You’ll find the account in John 17 where Jesus has gathered with his disciples in the upper room. He prayed for them, then, in verse 20, Jesus said, “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word.”

Jesus prayed for all the believers who would become a part of the church before the church even existed. And that included me and you. And the Bible tells us that Jesus still intercedes for us today.

Let someone know that you’re praying for them today. And that Jesus is too!
