Wayne Britton

R. Wayne Britton, 69, of Goessel, died Jan. 30 at Newton Medical Center.

Born Jan. 18, 1941, in Cedar Point to Jesse Allen and Mary Jane (Branson) Britton, he was married Jan. 18, 1986, to Barbara J. Wettestad in Goessel.

He worked as a law enforcement officer.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and three sisters, Irene Jenkins, Pauline Creamer, and Ella Marie Britton.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three sons, Lee of Peabody, Dennis of Canton, and Darryl Thiesen of Goessel; two daughters, Tammy Whiteside of Peabody and Daynna DuFriend of Andover; a sister, Doris Pletcher of Topeka; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the Hillsboro American Legion.

A memorial fund has been established with the Kansas Humane Society.
