Peabody-Burns Warriors won against the Central of Burden Raiders 48-42 in a close game Friday night.
Bryant Young scored the first Warriors touchdown of the evening, with 2:19 left in the first quarter. The 2-point conversion was no good, so the score remained 6-0.
After, Peabody kicked off, but a fumble was quickly recovered by Jorge Benito, giving the Warriors control of the ball on the Raider 28-yard-line.
Shortly after, Austin Reynolds made the Warriors’ second touchdown of the evening. The 2-point conversion was no good once again, and the score was 12-0.
The Raiders managed to score two touchdowns themselves in the second quarter, bringing the score to 12-16.
Reynolds and Bailey Penner both made two touchdowns before the end of the first half, bringing the score to 26-16.
Raiders scored two touchdowns in an almost two minute span, making the score 26-30.
Bryant Young then completed a pass to Jayton Scott who ran 56 yards for the Warriors first touchdown of the third quarter. With a complete two-point conversion by Reynolds, the score was 34-30.
Raiders scored another touchdown, making the score 34-36. Soon after, Austin Purk ran for 9 yards and brought the score to 42-36.
Raiders managed one more touchdown, making the score tied at 42-42 with eleven minutes left in the game.
Reynolds ran for 2 yards to score another touchdown, and the Warriors defense kept the Raiders in their own zone, securing the Warriors the win, 48-42.
Peabody-Burns will face Cedar Vale-Dexter for the Warriors’ senior night home game on Thursday.
