With only one loss in the early going of the 2008-09 basketball season, the Peabody-Burns High School boys’ basketball team added another victory Dec. 16 against Burrton, 56-42. The team will compete next at home against Wichita Home School and then take a break in the action until after the New Year.
Martin Hofkamp opened the scoring for the Warriors with a basket.
Burrton tied the game at two and then Jake Middleton dropped in a three, for a three-point advantage.
PBHS remained in control of the quarter with the addition of 12 more points.
Hofkamp added four more for a total of six in the quarter. Sean Jones also added four.
Middleton had three and Jacob Simmonds and Brian O’Neal each added a basket. The lead was 10, 17-7, at the end of one.
PBHS led throughout the second, but both offenses played even. PBHS added 12 and Burrton added 10.
Hofkamp and Simmonds each had four in the period. Middleton added a basket as well as Brian Wingert. The PBHS lead was 29-17 at the half.
The Warrior offense put in 10 points in the third. Simmonds and Aaron Topham each had four in the quarter. Hofkamp added a basket, and PBHS led 39-25 at the end of three periods of play.
Both offenses scored 17 in the final quarter. Simmonds paced the Warriors with seven. Wingert added four. Curtis Frederick, Topham. and O’Neal each added a basket.
