Warriors lose in first round of sub-state

Boys, girls display noticeable improvement during season

Peabody-Burns boys and girls basketball seasons ended Monday evening, with both losing in the first round of sub-state at Flint Hills.

The boys lost 81-67, and the girls lost 48-31. Further statistics were unavailable at press time.

Peabody-Burns boys finished with four wins, but played competitively in a majority of their games, making noticeable strides from last season. The Warriors capped their final appearance at December’s Marion Tournament with a 20-point win over the home team, and took fourth at Centre’s Cougar Classic in January.

While the girls finished the season winless, their improvement was evident from game to game. The Warriors were markedly more competitive late in the season, and posted several single-digit losses, including a 40-39 heartbreaker last week to Solomon.
