Warriors earn league honors

Eight Peabody-Burns High School athletes earned all-league honors for the 2011 volleyball and football season. Each player was nominated for postseason honors by Warrior coaching staff and then selected to the list by Wheat State League coaches.

Sarah Hofkamp and Paige Lewis were selected first team volleyball all-league.

Hofkamp had 364 assists, 140 digs, 24 blocks, and 32 kills on the season. She is a senior. James and Rebecca Nickel of Peabody are her parents.

Lewis recorded 205 kills, 26 aces, 225 digs, and 11 blocks. She is a junior. Dean and Shari Lewis of Peabody are her parents.

Rayna Barnes was selected second team volleyball all-league. Her season stats included 26 blocks, 68 kills, and 45 aces. She is a junior. Eric and JoLonna Barnes of Peabody are her parents.

Tori Schroeder was selected honorable mention volleyball all-league. She earned 134 digs, 115 kills, 42 assists, 17 blocks, and 29 aces. She is a senior. Matt and Linda Schroeder of Newton are her parents.

Brody Kyle, Hunter Pickens, and Austin Savage were selected to the first team football all-league.

Kyle had 15 receptions for 226 yards and two touchdowns. He accumulated 42 tackles and had eight sacks. Kyle is a senior. Bob and Becky Kyle of Peabody are his parents.

Pickens caught 11 passes for a total of 193 yards and four touchdowns. He ran the ball 69 times for 497 yards and 10 touchdowns. He had 19 tackles for the year and made three interceptions. Pickens is a junior. David and Lori Pickens of Peabody are his parents.

Savage ran the ball 99 times for a total of 488 yards and four touchdowns. He caught 10 passes for 99 yards. He punted 28 times with an average of 29.4 yards per kick. He returned nine punts for 62 yards and a score. He recorded 55 tackles for the season. Savage is a junior. Ray and Patty Savage of Peabody are his parents.

Wes Shaw was selected honorable mention football all-league. He had two punt returns for 50 yards and one touchdown. He had 58 tackles and two sacks. Bonnie Shaw of Peabody is his mother.
