Warriors defeat Wichita Home School

Another win for the Peabody-Burns High School Warriors makes the team 5-1 for the season. They defeated Wichita Home School Dec. 21, 50-22. The squad will now take a break and resume play Tuesday at Remington.
PBHS defense was the story in the first quarter. The Warriors held Wichita Home School to only a basket in the period while the PBHS offense put up 11 points. Martin Hofkamp led the team with five points and Jacob Simmonds, Sean Jones, and Aaron Topham each added a basket.
PBHS outscored Wichita Home School 9-3 in the second quarter and took the 20-5 lead at the half. Simmonds had four in the period. Topham and Hofkamp added two each.
The Warriors had a productive third quarter with the addition of 15 points. The Wichita team came up with seven. Simmonds, Hofkamp, and Pickens shared top honors in the third for the PBHS offense with four each. Brian O’Neal got on the board with a basket, as did Storm Pickens. Jones added a free throw.
Wichita Home School scored 10 points in the fourth while the PBHS squad put up 15 and coasted to the 50-22 victory. Pickens led the fourth with four points, Simmonds had three, Matt Hiebert, Jones, Isaac Burnett, and Brody Kyle each added two.
Individual game points were Simmonds 14, Hofkamp 11, Pickens 8, Jones 5, Topham 4, and Hiebert, O’Neal, Burnett, and Kyle had 2 each.
