Volunteers needed to ease kitchen duties at Senior Center

The Peabody Senior Center staff continues to cook meals for AGAPE Senior Center in Goessel. A Goessel volunteer drives to Peabody to pick up meals and take them back to Goessel.

“Our kitchen is very busy and still in need of some extra volunteers,” site co-manager Ruth Lott said.

“We appreciate those folks who help out faithfully, but we think there are many more who could share in the blessing of volunteering. We are always anxious to see new people coming into the center for our delicious meals and also to volunteer their time to help others,” Lott added.

Another project on the horizon that will require additional help for the seniors will be the twice-a-week peppernut baking sessions which will begin on Oct. 10 right after lunch and continue every Monday and Thursday afternoon until Nov. 17.

“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we always appreciate all the people of the community that come out to help,” Lott said.

To volunteer or to make a reservation to eat at the center, call (620) 983-2226 to speak to Lott or co-manager Arlene Unruh or leave a message.
