Volunteers needed for July Fourth celebration

Brian McDowell has issued a request for people interested in Peabody’s July Fourth celebration to come to the roundhouse at the park at 1 p.m. Saturday to begin putting together ground displays for next month’s festivities.

McDowell and his family moved to McPherson in 2008 and this will be his last year to direct the fireworks show for Peabody’s Fourth of July event.

“This has been passed down for years and I hope it will continue to be passed down for years to come,” he said. “We have an 88-year tradition here. It would be a shame to lose it.”

Anyone interested in helping with any part of the event should contact McDowell Saturday at the park or call 620-504-6261to volunteer.
