Volleyball team wins one, loses one at home

A water leak at Goessel moved the volleyball matches on Sept. 11 to Peabody. Peabody-Burns High School defeated White City, 25-23 and 25-8, but lost to Goessel, 18-25 and 7-25. Up next are home matches and then a Saturday trip to the Olpe tournament.

White City

Rayna Barnes got two kills early in game one for the 6-2 lead. White City came back but Brianna Larsen kept the two-point lead, 10-8, with a kill. White City charged back and took the lead, but a tip from Paige Lewis and an ace from Cierra Foth tied the game at 21. Kaycy Gonzalez closed the game with two kills, 25-23.

PBHS had control of game two from the beginning with kills from Barnes and Lewis. Aces from McKenzie Ensminger and Gonzalez helped the team to the 25-8 victory.

Goessel

Goessel took the early lead in game one. Lewis had a kill and an ace from Foth and got the team to within two, 7-9. Burnett, Barnes, and Lewis each had kills in the game but PBHS lost, 18-25.

Barnes and Lewis each recorded tips in game two. PBHS was defeated, 7-25.
