Vincent Garber

Vincent F. Garber, 70, of Lyons died Friday at his home.

Garber was born Dec. 14, 1942, in Fremont, Ohio, to Frank Richard and Alya May Dymond Garber.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Fremont College. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War, then worked as a cook and manager at Ly-Kan Hotel, Restaurant, and Lounge, Lyons.

He married Twilla Pitts on Dec. 20, 1997, in Larned.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Frank, James Paul, and Lee, all of Ohio; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Clark of Ohio; three stepsons, Robert Moore of Inman, Alan Moore of Sterling, and Larry Moore of Wellington; a stepdaughter, Ruby Jenkins of Lyons; 19 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday in Lyons. Burial with military honors was at Claney Cemetery, rural Marion.

A memorial has been established with the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University.
