A Marion woman who initially complained that her cell phone had been stolen ended up being arrested after she allegedly hit a male companion in the face.

A dispute between the woman, her former husband, and her current companion resulted in two calls to the sheriff’s office Thursday.

Undersheriff Larry Starkey was sent to a home in the 500 block on S. Cedar St. shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday. No Marion police were on duty at the time.

Jacob Glantz, who lived at the residence, reported that Bryan Grosse, former husband of Glantz’s companion, Lindsey Grosse, had stolen a cellular phone.

“Apparently, Bryan Grosse went to his ex’s and said somebody had said they were going to give him a phone,” Starkey said. “There was some kind of confrontation. He grabbed the phone and left.”

Bryan Grosse wasn’t arrested for the alleged theft of the phone, which Starkey estimated to be worth $500, because Starkey thought more investigation needed to be done.

Three hours later, just before midnight, Starkey again was sent to the residence. This time Glantz reported that Lindsey Grosse had hit him on the nose.

An argument arose between Glantz and Lindsey Grosse after the alleged theft of the phone was reported, Starkey said.

“Lindsey ended up hitting Jacob in the nose,” Starkey said. Lindsey C. Grosse, 34, was booked into jail on suspicion of domestic battery and released 15 hours later on $1,000 surety bond.
