Services for Victor Lloyd Jost, 90, who died Saturday at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro after his second bout of COVID-19 in three months, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, rural Hillsboro.

Relatives will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Born March 5, 1934, to Frank R. and Marie (Loewen) Jost, he was baptized Aug. 4, 1946, at Schlehuber dam.

He attended Cresswell School and Hillsboro Elementary, graduating in 1952 from Hillsboro High School.

A lifelong member of Ebenfeld Church, he married fellow member Myrna Eitzen on Aug. 25, 1955, at the church.

As an alternative to military service, he worked in a kitchen at a psychiatric facility in Topeka then moved to the family’s farm.

The couple served several terms as Ebenfeld youth group sponsors and were deacons for 25 years. He also was an adult Sunday school teacher, a member of Gideons International, a member of the Parkside Homes board of directors, and a member of Cooperative Grain and Supply’s board for nine years.

The couple moved to assisted living in 2010. His wife died in 2019. A grandson also preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters Connie Faber and Nancy Rogers; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Gideons International.
