Velber Bevan

Velber Keith Bevan, 83, died Aug. 26 in Hutchinson.

He was born Aug. 1, 1930, to Clyde and Ella Johanna Tietzen Bevan in Herington. He was a graduate of Caldwell High School.

He worked for the Rock Island Railroad, then he served two years in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He returned to work for the railroad for 43 years before retiring.

Velber married Donna Rose Pankratz on May 5, 1956, in Marion. They were married for 57 years and were active in Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry.

He is survived by his wife, Donna.

A graveside service with military rites was Friday at Marion Cemetery. A memorial service followed at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson.

Memorial funds have been established with the church mission fund and with Hutchinson Hospice.
