USD 398 hires new superintendant

Staff writer

On Feb. 29, members of the Peabody-Burns Board of Education voted to offer a two-year contract to Ronald D. Traxson of Cheney. Traxson accepted the position and will take the district reins July 1.

He has been principal at Cheney High School for more than 20 years. The position at USD 398 will be his first as superintendent.

He and his wife, Patty, will be moving to the district. They have grown children.

“We are very pleased to have Mr. Traxson coming in as our new superintendent,” board president Terry Eberhard said. “We think he will be a good fit for the Peabody and Burns communities. Looking ahead, we are excited about working with him to build a solid future for the Peabody-Burns district.”

Interim Superintendent Demitry Evancho will continue to serve in that capacity until Traxson begins in July.
