Unruh part of national title team at K-State

Peabody-Burns High School graduate Jason Unruh was part of the Kansas State University crops team that took first place in the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture national crops contest April 15 at Modesto Junior College in Modesto, Calif.

Individually, Unruh was third overall, first in agronomic exam and laboratory practical, and fifth in plant and seed identification.

Unruh’s teammates were Scott Henry, Kelly Yunghans, Levi Larkins, Chad Huffman, and alternate Jake Wyrill. Agronomy professor Kevin Donnelly was the team’s coach.

The victory was the team’s third consecutive title in the contest and 10th in the past 13 years. A total of 16 teams competed in the contest: nine in the four-year division and seven in the two-year division.
