TRACK: Centre track coach returns after a year
Staff writer
After taking the 2022 season off, coach Alan Stahlecker is back for his 21st season of track at Centre.
His team will have nine returning athletes from last year, five of whom were letter winners: Kaitlynn Bina, Allie Stuchlik, Anthony Rziha, Gentri Holub, and Robert Spohn.
Bina was the overall leading scorer from the 2022 season and a sixth-place finisher in the 1,600-meter run at the regional track meet last year.
Stuchlik was the highest finisher at regionals on last year’s team, taking fifth in the 3,200-meter run.
Among boys, Rziha is the only returning senior and the leading scorer in horizontal jumps from last year.
Others returning this year are Emilee Remmers, Alex Marshall, Michael Herrera, and Andrew Madron.
Stahlecker will be coaching the throwers, distance runners, and high jumpers. His assistant, Dawson Raymer, will handle the hurdlers, sprinters, and horizontal jumpers.
Newcomers to the team are still searching out events in which to participate. They include Sophia Luna, Hailey Barton, Olivia Carlson, Ja’Quin Smith, Addison Bina, and Lily Hauck.
