Top Goessel event coming in August

Goessel’s annual Threshing Days will be Aug. 5 through 7.

At 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5, making a repeat performance from last year, will be the band Steel Skarecrow.

Steel Scarecrow, which has released two albums, combines ’90s country and southern soul music with a modern feel. Members perform in three-part harmony. Each song tells a story.

Steel Skarecrow will perform in the Goessel High School auditorium.

German food, including cottage cheese filled verenika dumplings with ham gravy, German country sausage, zwieback rolls, cherry moos pudding, bierock stuffed rolls, New Year’s cookies, and cole slaw will be available for meals.

Barbecue beef sandwiches, bierocks, chips, monster cookies, New Year’s cookies, and beverages will be served Aug. 6 at the 1906 Prep School.

A fundraising dinner for Mennonite Heritage Museum will be the evening of Aug. 6.

Admission to the threshing show costs $5 for ages 13 and older and $2.50 for children ages 7 to 12.
