PBJH football ended the season on a high note Thursday with a win at home over Goessel 14-2.
The team finished with a record of 1-9.
Both defenses stood their ground in the first half. Neither team got into the end zone and the first half ended 0-0.
Goessel started the second half with an onside kick, but the Tomahawks covered the ball at the PBJH 46-yard line. Brooks Hodges had several carries to move the ball to the 7-yard line. Garrett Schroeder finished the drive with a 7-yard pass to Braxton Kyle for the score. Schroeder then hit Xavier Jabary for the two point conversion. The Tomahawks led 8-0 with 6:04 left in the third quarter.
The next Tomahawk drive was set up by the PBJH defense forcing a Goessel punt. Schroeder completed a 58- yard pass to Wyatt Fistler. Fistler ran the ball in for the touchdown. The conversion attempt failed but PBJH led Goessel 14-0 with 1:32 left in the third period.
Goessel offense got on the scoreboard with a safety with less than a minute to play in the contest.
The game ended with a victory for the Tomahawks 14-2.
“It was great to see the fans come out and support our team this season, no matter what the weather or the outcome,” stated Coach Brian Simmonds. “We really appreciate it.”
