Tomahawks improve to 3-0

The Peabody-Burns Junior High School Tomahawks basketball team defeated Goessel Thursday at Goessel, 44-18. The team is 3-0 and next will take on Solomon at home.

PBJHS offense scored 11 points in the first quarter. Tomahawk defense held Goessel to two, and PBJHS led, 11-2, at the end of the period. Braxton Kyle had five points. Kaden Gibson and Kevin Baatrup each added a 3-point basket.

The Tomahawks continued to score well in the second quarter. Austin Hiebert had four in the period. Kyle added three and Vince Newman and Baatrup each had two. Goessel made five and PBJHS led, 22-7, at the half.

PBJHS outscored Goessel, 22-11, in the second half. Kyle had 10 in the final half. Baatrup added five, David Loucks scored four, and Newman had a basket. PBJHS took the victory, 44-18.

Kyle, 18; Baatrup, 10; Newman, 5; Hiebert, 4; Loucks, 4; and Gibson, 3.
