Tomahawks defeat Remington, 38-27

The Peabody-Burns Junior High School Tomahawks boys’ basketball team defeated the Remington Colts, 38-27, Dec. 20 at Whitewater. The team is on break for the holidays and be back in action Jan. 6 at home.
The first quarter of action was close, but the Tomahawks edged the Colts, 12-10, at the buzzer. Kevin Baatrup led the scoring in the period with a trey. Kaden Gibson, Braxton Kyle, Brooks Hodges, and Nick Preheim each had a basket. Austin Hiebert added a free throw.
PBJHS defense held the Colts to 6 in the second quarter while their offense added 11. Gibson had a trey and a 2-point basket. Kyle, Vince Newman, and Baatrup each added a basket. The Tomahawks led, 23-16, at the half.
Third quarter PBJHS defense held the Colts to 8 and the Tomahawks scored 8 in the period. Hodges had 4 points for the team. Gibson, Kyle, and David Loucks each added 2. PBJHS led, 33-21, at the end of the third quarter.
The Colts outscored PBJHS by 1, 6-5, in the final period, but the Tomahawks earned the win, 38-27. Gibson had 4 in the final quarter. Hodges added a free throw.
