Imagine being Noah or one of his family members. They walked off of the earth they’d known for a long time — Noah was 600 years old at the time — and boarded an ark. A year later they stepped onto the surface of an altered earth. The cataclysmic change brought by the world-wide flood must have been startling. And only eight human beings and a very small percentage of animals lived to see it.
No doubt that while Noah and his family built the ark there were mockers. While we don’t have an exact time-frame, the building process probably lasted 75 to 100 years. That’s a long time before the first drop of rain hit the ground. I’m sure the scoffers had a field day making fun of Noah.
But then the flood came.
Today, unbelievers mock those who offer a doomsday forecast. Take time to read II Peter 3. Ungodly people will continue to mock the message that Jesus Christ is going to return and the final judgment — a fiery judgment — will follow. They will follow their lusts and ignore the warnings.
And then Jesus will come.
