When does the cost of following Jesus Christ become too high?
This coming Sunday, in addition to being Veterans Day, is International Day for the Persecuted Church. Believers around the world will unite in spirit for the purpose of praying for other Christians who regularly face persecution because they believe in Jesus. And the number of those who are sitting in jails, or are being killed for believing in Jesus just grew as you read the above sentences.
You see, for these brave souls, the question that started this article has only one answer: never.
Our veterans understand that spirit of commitment. They understand sacrifice. They understand devotion to a cause. If you know a veteran, thank them personally.
But chances are you’ll not get the opportunity to say “thank you” to a Christian who is being persecuted in Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, or the many other countries that are hostile to Christianity. They’re veterans of a spiritual battle that rages on. And they need our help. We can pray, send Bibles, and provide basic necessities.
Or will that cost us too much?
