Teens attempt to steal boat

Two teens driving a silver sport-utility vehicle attempted to steal a boat Monday afternoon near the 1800 block of 70th Rd.

Grant Phares, who works at Wildcat Creek Ranch, saw and reported the thief at 1:52 p.m.

“There was a flat bottom boat in a hay field and I saw two high school aged looking kids in a silver jeep trying to load it on top of the car,” he said.

After Phares turned around, the kids took off and the boat fell from the car.

Peabody police and sheriff’s officers attempted to locate the suspects, who were seen near 60th and Remington Rds., heading east, but were unsuccessful.
