More than 400 staff members from five school districts — USD 410 Hillsboro, USD 408 Marion, USD 397 Centre, USD 487 Herington, and USD 398 Peabody — will converge on Marion Jan. 19 to learn more about the use of the Internet and other technology tools in their schools and classrooms.
The training day will be coordinated by TEEN, Technology Excellence in Education Network, which connects the districts through underground fiber optics.
Brandi Hendrix, executive director of TEEN, said many workshops will be available during two morning sessions. One presenter will be a 10-year-old girl who is a prodigy in the use of technology. She will present using the Interactive Distance Learning network (IDL).
In the afternoon, teachers will collaborate to glean from each other ways to use technology in their classrooms.
Several area businesses are providing support for the event.
