Tampa community, bank bring people together

Trailfest attracts residents from across county

All roads led to Tampa Saturday as people came from far and wide to attend a combined Tampa Trailfest and Tampa Hog Roast dinner.

Music filled the air as Main Street became the gathering place for families and friends. Duane McCarty of Marion announced events.

The first Trailfest was in September last year, and cold, rainy weather kept people away. So the Trailfest committee decided to make the festival the same day as the hog roast, committee member Jessica Hajek said.

“The weather was better, and it went well,” she said. “The hog roast helped the turnout. We had quite a few people and a lot of kids doing a lot of things. The turtle races went over well. We are excited to do it again next year.”

Bank president Chris Costello said the day was a success.

“We had a good crowd,” he said. “The weather was great. It was hot, but at least it wasn’t raining. There were a lot of things to do, and lines formed earlier than usual for the hog roast.”

The hog roast has been an annual event for more than 30 years. Costello said his employees and their families served 450 meals.
