Despite the Labor Day holiday, it was business as usual Monday for Mirror Image, a new auto detailing business in Marion.

Co-owners Doug Copenhaver and Antonio “T.J.” Rivera detailed a 2015 Ford F-150 in their new shop at 126 N. 1st St.

The truck’s owner needed the work done urgently but couldn’t have it in on Saturday or Sunday, Copenhaver said.

The pair moved their business Sept. 1 from its former location in Hillsboro, where it had operated two years, and began working in Marion.

“I did them out of my garage in Hillsboro,” Copenhaver said.

The new location is handily across 1st St. from Webster Auto Service.

They had considered buying a house in Peabody, tearing it down, and putting their shop there, but when Marion people learned the business owners were looking for a place, they opened doors for them.

City employee Margo Yates contacted Kevin Burkholder, who owns the building where Mirror Image now operates.

Copenhaver and Rivera said they appreciated the hospitable treatment they experienced in Marion. In return, they’ll be glad to help out with community activities.

“Our main goal is to give people a nice job at a reasonable cost,” Copenhaver said.

Auto detailing can cost as much as $400, but “not everyone’s a doctor or lawyer,” Rivera said.

The men are offering a special rate of $85 for the inside or $125 for both inside and outside.

“We just like what we’re doing, and it helps people out,” Copenhaver said.

Not only are the men co-owners, they are best friends.

“When you work with your best friend, it’s not like working,” Rivera said.

If a car is leaking oil or needs tires, they refer it to auto repair or tire shops.

The business is open Monday through Friday and Saturday by appointment.
