Tabor to reinstate computer science major

Nearly 16 years after it was eliminated, computer science will return as a major next fall at Tabor College.

An additional professor will be hired and nine new courses created for the program, offered by Tabor’s Science and Mathematics Department.

Students will take between 45 and 60 credit-hours in major coursework and will choose among concentrations in software engineering, data science, bioinformatics, and general computer science.

Tabor added a major in data science and analytics in August 2023. After computer science and its concentrations are added, that major will be renamed data analytics.

In a news release, Tabor officials cited strong job prospects and earnings opportunities for students as motivating the change.
