Tabor recital to feature operatic soprano

Visiting professor also will teach and judge college voice festival

Dawn Neely will be featured in a recital at 7 p.m. Friday in Tabor College’s Chapel Auditorium.

An assistant professor of voice and director of opera at University of West Georgia, Neely is an accomplished operatic performer, director, and clinician, with an interest in contemporary classical music.

Neely will be part of Tabor’s voice festival and competition from Thursday through Saturday. She will give a master class for music majors and minors studying voice, teach a workshop on alignment and movement for singers and actors, and serve as clinician and finals judge for Saturday’s competition.

The festival offers singers from throughout the Midwest an opportunity to receive feedback from a panel of voice teachers and advance through rounds of competition, culminating in a finals recital with a cash prizes.
