Tabor College to host civil religion speaker

The public is invited to attend a guest lecture at Tabor College by Dr. Laura Deen Johnson, assistant professor at the State University of New York, Fredonia. She will address the topic of “Expressions of Civil Region in post 9-11 America.”

The multi-media presentation will be at 7 p.m. March 12 in the Wohlgemuth Music Education Center lobby. It is an interesting perspective on how religion has been expressed in a sometimes-political fashion following the attack in New York City.

Johnson’s career in broadcasting began in 1981 at WHIL-FM in Mobile, Ala. During her career, she was an announcer, music programmer, music director, and station manager at public radio stations in Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida. She holds a doctorate from the University of Florida, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of West Florida, and a degree in music from Florida State University.

The event is a collaborate efforts of the Humanities Division and the Office of Academic Affairs.
