Tabor College adds Africa trip to interterm options

Tabor College assistant professor of social work Arden Schellert will take students, alumni, and friends on a trip to Africa in January as part of the college’s interterm trip options.

Schellert grew up in Africa and looks forward to sharing this experience with students.

“This trip truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Schellert said. “We’ll be visiting with experts and seeing locations that will give students a real picture of both the beauty and the suffering that is such a striking part of life in Africa.

The trip will include visiting Lake Victoria, a small fishing village, beaches, a jeep ride through the Serengeti, a hike to a volcano crater, Zanzibar Island, and a visit to Ndolage Hospital, a world-class hospital where HIV/AIDS was first discovered.
